While there are many aspects of coaching that are similar to therapy (safe and caring environment, confidential sessions), they are not the same. Therapy is often a longer process that targets past or present issues that have resulting difficulties with mental health, behavioral concerns, or physical wellbeing. Coaching is often shorter in duration and focuses on goals setting, identifying obstacles, creating plans to achieve the goals, and brief follow-up.
Coaching topics may include:
Organization
Time/task management
Effective studying techniques
Building Stronger Relationships
Parenting
Communication
While many of these topics overlap with therapy, the approach is goal based. We offer 3 and 5 session packages to help you set goals and get on your way to a brighter future.
Coaching is not covered by health insurance because the focus is goal setting and not related to illness recovery.
If through coaching work, the coach or client believes that the issues are more appropriately covered in counseling sessions, altering treatment course will be discussed and implemented.
